The Wheeling Arts and Cultural Commission is seeking proposals for three murals on the trail-facing façade of 1 23rd Street, located in historic Center Wheeling. Artists or groups of artists may provide a proposal for one or more of the three sections. Murals should depict literal or conceptual interpretations of the native natural landscape and wildlife that is present along the Wheeling Heritage Trail. The murals may appear aesthetically different, but will be unified by a shared color palette.
The Wheeling Arts and Cultural Commission’s vision is to be the catalyst for a longterm, rich, and inclusive arts and cultural experience for the community. This project aims to accomplish this mission and vision by facilitating high impact, public art on Wheeling’s popular Heritage Trail.
Artists whose proposals are accepted will be awarded $1,500, up to three nights of lodging at the McClure House Hotel, and exterior paint. Any additional materials are the responsibility of the artist(s).
