**** MEDIA ADVISORY **** WHO: West Virginia Division of Culture and History (WVDCH) WHAT: The unveiling of a new exhibit titled World War I: West Virginia in the War to End All Wars featuring uniforms, artillery and weapons from battles on the Eastern and Western Fronts. The exhibit includes items donated from West Virginians and their families. Following the opening is a small reception with refreshments. The event is free and open to the public. WHERE: Culture Center Great Hall, Charleston, State Capitol Complex WHEN: Saturday, July 15, 2017; 3:30 – 5 p.m. WHY: To commemorate the 100th anniversary of World War I, the WVDCH is proud to showcase these donated artifacts and printed materials and to preserve them for West Virginia. The division, led by Commissioner Randall Reid-Smith, is an agency within the Office of Secretary of Education and the Arts with Gayle Manchin, cabinet secretary. It brings together the past, present and future through programs and services focusing on archives and history, arts, historic preservation and museums.
