West Virginia State Museum Announces Fall Programs

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The West Virginia Department of Arts, Culture and History (WVDACH) invites students in grades 2 – 5 to the West Virginia State Museum for special fall afterschool programs beginning Sept. 25 and running until Nov. 13, 2018. All activities will take place in the museum education rooms at the Culture Center, State Capitol Complex in Charleston and are free and open to the public.

Afterschool Fun Days at the Culture Center will take place from 3 – 5 p.m. every Tuesday – Friday. Spaces are limited and reservations are required. On Tuesdays, students will get an introduction to the art of weaving using a lap loom; on Wednesdays, visitors will learn the use of different painting techniques inspired by the museum’s artwork; Thursdays activities will include WV 101 – Afterschool Classroom, Part 1; and on Fridays, students will create a new craft each week.

The State Museum Learning Center also will feature Classic Family Fun Game Days on Saturdays beginning in September. Visitors to the museum can enjoy classic board games, video games and card games.
